Product Overview

Smart Network Blu-ray Disc Player. The BD77 is a full-HD 2D Blu-ray player compatible with IP services such as Netflix, YouTube for easy enjoyment of movies and streaming video. DLNA-certified Blu-ray Disc Player is easy to use with your home network. Share and enjoy digital photos (JPEG), music (MP3, WMA) and videos (AVCHD, WMV) by simply connecting to a home network (LAN). For example, you can install a special app on your smartphone and use it to access a DLNA-certified PC via a Wi-Fi router in another room. The DIGA recorder and PC work as a DLNA server where your collection of movies, photos and videos is stored. After starting the player, the time it takes from launching the menu to playing a disc is much shorter than in conventional models. Starting and loading the disc from standby is also quick, for more comfortable movie viewing. pan3movies

Stunning picture quality and very slim/thin. Ideal for bedrooms etc.

Only issue is it can be a little noisy and if the volume is turned down the player is a bit distracting hence 4 stars.

The first unit I received wouldn't play ANY discs, so I contacted the retailer, Southern Electric, who said I needed to contact Panasonic. I called Panasonic and they told me I needed to deal with the retailer. After a week of emails/phone calls it was eventually sorted out and the unit went back.

The replacement arrived and Yipee! it plays discs. It also connects to my router via a cable and I can watch Netflix or YouTube. However, the description on this site, and most other websites, says that this player has the facility to watch BBC iPlayer. It doesn't. Which was a big problem to me as that was one of my main reasons for choosing it. I emailed Panasonic who were particularly unhelpful and basically said 'tough luck' until I threatened to take matters further. Then they said they would accept a return of the item, but that I would have to sort it out with the retailer. Given the hassle I had with the first one I'm dreading organising this return. The unit does play discs and it does it well enough. But there are cheaper players out there that will probably do it just as well.

All in all I'm disappointed with the player, the retailer, and Panasonic and I wouldn't recommend this product or these companies to anyone.

This item was securely packaged and arrived in the time specified.

Connecting was child's' play, connect HDMI cable and away you go. Usability is also very easy. Fast response time from inserting disk to menu sitting on the TV screen is only a few seconds [pop in disk and walk back to arm-chair and it is ready to play.

My only complaint is that when I use the remote it also operates my Panasonic FREESAT player\recorder [and vice-versa]. Managed to overcome that problem by placing the remote for the freesat payer in front of the sensor.
