After much research of the various models available and comments left by other buyers, I purchased this television as much for the reliable name as for the stated specification.

I had no trouble setting it up, and it automatically tuned into the local channels. However, I found that the HD channels were missing. The marketing literature clearly shows this television as being 'HD Ready', and was a new model for 2012, so I thought that it would have been capable of tuning in all Freeview and HD channels. Not so.

Having gone through all the menu options, I resorted to manual tuning, but the set could not find any signal when asked to tune into the correct channel for local HD transmissions. The signal definitely exists, as it can be received on my other television, but this tv's tuner obviously does not go up to the required frequency to 'see' the channel on which HD is now broacast.

Apart from that, the tv picture is excellent on its out-of-the-box settings, and there are plenty of tweaks for those who would like to change it. In common with most flatscreen televisions, sound quality is not brilliant, but perfectly acceptable at normal volumes and perhaps better than many. Placing the set close to a wall improves the bass response. For audiophiles there are output options for connecting to a sound system.

All in all, a reasonable television, but if you like to watch in HD, then you need an HD set-top box or a PVR to run the signal through. However, it must be said that on a 32" screen, you are unlikely to notice much difference between HD and SD transmissions, particularly as on this set the picture is sharp and vibrant. By claiming 'HD Ready', Samsung obviously means that the screen is capable of displaying an HD picture - not that the set can actually tune into it.

Good picture and sound quality even though we still have to get it properly tuned in after cancelling Sky because of shocking bills.

Bought this for my mother and she loves the picture and sound quality. She uses it with her PVR so can't say much about the other features.

Stand is a bit flimsy, and there is only one SCART socket. Other than that it's a nice TV.

This is an excellent TV. I have a Philips 42" plasma which I have had for several years. I bought this Samsung for the bedroom and it is truly excellent. I was a bit put off by some negatve comments by other buyers like poor sound. The picture is excellent and so is the sound. Though it is big it fits in nicely. I got a wall fitment in Asda for £15 and it was a doodle to fit. I highly recommend this TV and have recommended it to others already. Anyone who has seen it thinks its great.

Good value TV. Note, the component also doubles as an a/v. Only problem is the sound quality which is a little tinny / thin sounding at higher volumes but given the price I still think it is good value and especially suited to smaller rooms.
