this blue ray is an excellent product easy to set up ,plug and play once you get round the sony set up it is so easy to use

Very happy with this baby! looks slim and sleek. Quality of play is great and it works on non blu ray dvds too so all in all I'd deffo reccommend this

I have rarely used this item, I probably watched six videos on it and never used the internet connection as my TV has that facility. I bought it on the 28th November 2011 and was using it this evening (01-03-2013) and it just died. I changed the 5amp in the plug to no avail. Now I find that after 15 months, I am without ant guarantee and without a DVD player. I had no complaints about the actual performance of the machine, it was very good, but these things should last longer than 15 months.

Good DVD player, haven't tried a Blu-Ray disk yet as I mainly bought it for it's media features. I've connected it by Ethernet to my home network and it works really well streaming BBC iPlayer , Love Film etc. Movies from the Sony Entertainment stream well.Only 4 stars because it doesn't play home network media. No built in WiFi but Ethernet is always the best way if you can :-)

I bought this mainly for the internet capabilities (specifically LoveFilm). The player is easy to use, although the menus appear necessarily complicated.

The available films on LoveFilm are different to this on-line, which is annoying.

Trying to type a lot of letters on the remote control is almost impossible and the phone/ipad app has never worked for me.

That said, as a player it is great and for the money I haven't seen anything better. I have since bought one for my father.

I was at first very happy with this player, it was a huge step up from a traditional DVD player.
For simply BD discs the player is fine, good quality playback. No complaints there.
However, the Internet capability it promised...:
1. Netflix doesn't work, I have followed all the instructions and all, even got in touch with Sony, Netflix simply doesn't exist like it promised
2. Everything under the "Network" menu suddenly disappeared forever

Then here's the worse bit:
The machine began to play less and less media content, to the point that now it refuses to play any media content for more than 20 minutes. If the content is 1 hour long, it will play 20 minutes of it, then stops as if it has finished.

Took it back to Sony, and they say they can't fix it.

If they had just sold it as a simply BD player, then this machine is fine, but they didn't

Great value, pic quality is excellent. Cd playback sound is excellent too. Recommended. You do not need expensive bluray players. This is as good as you ever need.

My old faithful Panasonic dvd player recorder finally gave up the ghost so decided to upgrade to a blu-ray machine. I went for the Sony model as I have a Sony Bravia TV set so the compatibility makes life easier. I am very impressed with the player. Blu ray disks are pin sharp bright and even old dvd disks are upscaled to almost blu ray quality. Vet impressive all round.
