Very good picture for TV that sits on top of the fridge/freezer. The sound can be tuned to your preferences but the base is limited.

This TV is very good at what it does although, like all small flat screens, the audio quality is a small challenge especially in a room like a kitchen with all hard surfaces. Delivery was faster than predicted and the price for this model was competitive.

After reading previous reviews I was having second thoughts about buying this model. But in the end I decided to give it a try and yes, the speakers might not be be Hi Fi quality but tweaking the sound controls does give you a better quality of sound. The setting up and general use is very easy and with HD Freeview built in you can enjoy excellent picture quality at all tmes. I would definately recommend this TV for any small room or kitchen.

4.0 out of 5 stars Freeview HD in a small screen, 10 Dec 2012

Whilst I agree with the other comments made about the underwhelming sound quality, we bought this TV for use in the bedroom - it is not our main TV (also a Panasonic). What did catch me out though is the relatively narrow viewing angle compared to our previous 17" flatscreen that we have moved to another room. I have had to angle the screen downwards to ensure that we get a bright, balanced picture - the screen is mounted high up on the wall. Having said all that, the reason we bought it was for the HD picture and despite the low refresh rate of 50mhz the picture is crisp and doesn't suffer from motion blur when watching fast moving action. Also when I think that I paid £180 for a 14" Panasonic CRT 25 years ago when VAT was just 15%, paying £10 more now seems pretty good value.

Had the previous model and expected the 2012 version even better. Definitely not. Poor picture, dreadful sound, disappointing build quality. Straight back in the box and back to the vendor.

I purchased this tv about nine months ago, I see many people have commented on the poor sound quality which I also experienced initially. As many reviews have pointed out it is due to the small loudspeakers and the small area they are mounted in, very thin case. This is true of all makes of LCD tv's these days, however there is an audio equaliser which if you set the gain higher on the low frequencies you will find the tone can be adjust to provide good quality sound, so lets not have any more of this disinformation read the manual. With regard to the picture quality it is as most reviews say excellent. It is also one of very few TV's that actually provide an HD tuner so it receives either regular digital TV channels or HD channels and the broadcast quality on HD is much better, pity there arn't more of them.

The other reviews were right when they said the sound was like a 1970s tranny radio. I am still pleased with the purchase though, as it's a great compact TV - but it's so thin there's no room for decent speakers - so you need to connect it to an external sound system to get a decent all-round effect

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely dreadful sound, 31 Aug 2012

Imagine you have just spent about £200 on a new flat screen TV. The picture is great, but you are listening to what appears to be a 1960's mono transistor radio. This is not sound being 'different', this is sound being of an appalling inferior quality. I've tried to ignore, it, but I can't. The laughable audio controls don't affect the sound one bit (aside from the balance). Do manufacturers really believe that we are so desperate to shave a cm or so off the thickness of our TVs that we will put up with this rubbish? I wish I were exaggerating, but I'm not; sometimes I have to strain to hear what is being said.

I have a large Panasonic Viera which I am very happy with - but this is a sore disappointment. And I don't see why I should fork out more cash for a separate sound system to make it listenable.

Back it goes.

Having had a couple of unhappy experiences with Toshiba products I opted for the Panasonic, even though it was substantially more expensive. How glad I am that I did! This is a brilliant little set. The range of adjustments for the picture is enough to satisfy the visual palate of the most discerning viewer. The sound quality is "different" to that of larger sets but I do not find it offensive to the ear and it certainly doesn't detract from the pleasure of viewing. If you need a small set with a big heart I would recommend this Panasonic.
