Quick setup, easy operation, lots of channels. We have cable in the house, but this device would almost do all our viewing.

I bought this for my father >70 Yrs

The Box is easy to use and of acceptable picture quality but has a terrible software bug: whichever programme cluster you are viewing when you turn it off is not viewable when you turn it back on again.

For those suffering this problem the work around is simple - set to some radio programm that you don't listen to before turning off.

In our case thats: 707 then off. Then the box works OK.

No Problem I thought - I'll just do a firmware update. Well, somebody made the brilliant design decision to route the USB over unused pins on the SCART adapter - that means that you can't do an Update via USB-Stick without a special SCART/USB Adapter. WTF? I have hardly had a piece of digital gear lately that didn't need at least two firmware updates to make it work properly.

It's not worth the pain - buy a xoros instead.

I bought this freeview box to connect to old scartless tv after recent digital changeover. Product desciption did not say tv needed scart socket so disappointed when it arrived and connection was by scart. I returned it to Amazon and was given full refund. Found alternative box on Amazon that connects to tv's without scart.

I have the same problem as some previous posters but for me it refuses to connect to Sky News and other channels on the same multiplex(block of channels). I have another freeview box on a feed from the same aerial which picks up Sky News perfectly, so I know it's not my aerial but many might assume it's their aerial at fault and not blaim this box.

The problem started after freeview moved a lot of the channels around and I had to retune. The box seems to be confused by the new freeview multiplex layout and it tries to tune into one incorrect multiplex for my region. That multiplex is too weak, so it simply drops all the channels on that block instead of finding them on the much stronger correct multiplex, which my other box can find.

I guess it depends on your location if you're likely to experience problems. If you're in an area where the signal from more than one transmitter overlaps I wouldn't recommend this box.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cheap as chips, 2 Oct 2012

A couple of years ago I bought a cheap TV from Tesco which had 'Freeview' emblazoned on it. I assumed this meant it could receive Freeview without a box. Wrong, of course, so it went in the attic till now. Anyway this Labgear box works a treat with an August indoor aerial - also cheap as chips. Brilliant picture, excellent for a pokey study, small office or coal-store.

A small, compact digi box, ideal for the portable television upstairs. Have had this product for two weeks now, and no problems have been experienced. I would say that this type of digi box is best suited to a portable television, due to it's size.

I bought this for my mother who is new to set top boxes.

I had given it to her and called her to ask if she needed help setting it up, she replied with no, i just plugged it in, pressed search and it works.

If my mother finds this easy I think any one will.

It does everything its supposed to and brewnie points for me too :-)

It also came with a scart cable and even the batteries for the remote. Quite often you wont get these on the cheaper end of the set top box world.

Good purchase and good price
