There is a netflix button on the remote and its very handy for me because we are always watching movies from netflix. I wish there would be lovefilm in the future as well. There are lots of application to download as well. Im very satisfied with it

This player is great for blu ray playback but poor for DVD playing. This is because it is not possible to navigate back to the menu once the movie is playing. I press "top menu" and "pop up menu", neither works. It would be 5 star rating but for this flaw.

I ordered this player to go with my home cinema system that Ive set up recently,Ive had other blu ray players but none of them to equal this Panasonic player, its slim ,has the correct number of connections for my other pieces in the system.picture quality is excellenton all formats Ive played in it.Netflix and all the other movie modes deliver excellent picture and audio quality.
An excellent player, and purchase to boot.

I bought this (not from Amazon) because of the uniformly great professional reviews. They all say it has very good picture quality, and I agree.

The main reason for the purchase was to save the strain on our PS3 when playing 3D films. The main fan would start up and the PS3 became very noisy. Apparently this is because of the amount of work needed by the PS3 processor. This does not happen with this Panasonic player.
Setting it up is easy. It has WiFi or can be directly plugged into a network. It immediately picked up our NAS server and the internet for streaming content.
It is very light, and not very high so it high so it can sit between the bottom of our LG TV and rest on the standard LG stand.
My main concern was with the company Panasonic. It lost ten billion (dollars/yen?) this year and the shares are at junk bond status so I wondered how long the player would be supported. However, shortly after I set it up we downloaded a firmware update.

So in summary if you want a basic 3D player that has an excellent 2D picture, you could do a lot worse that buy one of these.

This is almost the "Swiss Army Knife" of 2D, 3D, and audio playback : Region B and Region Free Blu-ray, All Regions DVD, audio CD, SD memory card, USB (up to 2 TB), and Viera Internet Portal (via integral WiFi or Ethernet). Some of the sub-menus are in "geek" but the default settings need little if any tweeking : I added audio delay on Blu-ray / DVD. Firmware updates via the Internet take a few minutes but the download and installation are automatic and painless.

It starts in Home screen and has click-on links to Setup, Network, Music, Videos, and Photos. These connect to sub-menus some of which can be "techie", but the default settings are generally a good choice. Although there wasn't a noticeable delay between video playback and the sound track, the audio section of the Disney World of Wonder Blu-Ray calibration disc Wow: World of Wonder [Blu-ray][Region Free] [US Import] identified a mismatch; that was corrected by adding 20ms delay in the audio menu.

The Panasonic does a good job of playing audio CDs. I use the phono outputs to connect to an Arcam amp without tone controls so there is no margin to fiddle with the Eq. The Panasonic has three sound re-mastering settings but these made little difference or slightly reduced the sound quality. The Viera link has been switched off as playing a CD turned on the Panasonic television, and turning off the television turned off the Blu-ray. Playback from streamed audio or a memory stick was glitch-free.

The Viera Internet portal is set up for Worldwide, which meant that it was necessary to sign into YouTube to watch say the Christina Perri "Jar of Hearts" music video. The YouTube menu and controls display is much the same as on a computer, whereas the Panasonic Viera TVs have a different and better display. However, this is an easy way to add features to a TV that isn't "SMART".

This is a good unit that will probably meet the needs of most people.
