I bought this as a replacement for my aging 32" Sony Bravia KDLS3000 and I'm hugely impressed with it. SD TV and DVD playback is great and Freeview HD looks stunning. Also, the results are equally brilliant playing Blu Ray via a Sony BDP380. I made a couple of minor adjustments to brightness and contrast but other than that it worked straight out of the box. I had a minor issue connecting via ethernet but that was solved by swapping cables. What also impressed me was it synced up perfectly with my ancient Panasonic EX75 SD player as well as the Sony BluRay all on the same remote.
The only weak points are that despite a revamp, the Panasonic EPG still looks hopelessly outdated and the internet/smart screen is badly designed with a poor selection of apps at the moment, but hopefully that might get an update at some point. Having said that the YouTube app is hugely impressive which very cleverly you can sync to a smartphone via your Google account and control it from that - works like a dream. I haven't seen a better quality HD LED TV set at this price - 9/10.

Really smart. I have hooked it to my Broadband and now can watch BBC News, Play content with the BBC iPlayer, and so on. Perhaps one of the best features are the Freeview which even catches HD Channel susing a small Internal Booster. I am able to watch ITV HD, BBC One HD, BBC Two HD among others, just using the built-in Freeview ( just that I have to fiddle with the Aerial to watch HD Channels, ... eish!

Then it has read all the movies I have put for it on an SD Card. I am able top watch movies with the extension .avi, .mkv, .mov, and even the newer .h264! In the past just having a lot of full stops in the movie name, used to cause problems with some Media players I have used. This one is smart, it plays all as long is it is certified to play the format and the video was well recorded. I even play video clips from my Canon T3i DSLR Camera, in full HD. It also remembers the last spot on a movie.

So you can load movies, music, and photos and just choose what to enjoy. It has plenty of HDMI ports, 4 or more, I did not count as I only needed two (and two are there). Picture quality is great, though it cannot match my Panasonic Plasma when it comes to blacks (that one shows black blacks). Good thing it's light and thin. I am not sure about the Panasonic App store ... Google App Store, Amazon App Store ... mini market eish too much stores!

Now mine was stolen ... now I had to get the same type as replacement, but @ 42"!!!

In combination with a Panasonic DMR-HW220EBK 1TB HDD Recorder I ordered with the TV, this is a great TV. I found the set up from getting the equipment out of the box and hooking up to aerials, internet and PVR straightforward. The automatic set-up menus lead me through the set up for DVB off air tuning, internet connection and hook up to the PVR and were easy to follow. The resulting pictures and sound and user facilities are remarkably good, both in standard definition and especially in high definition. Watching replays of past programmes on iPlayer off the internet works much better than watching iPlayer on my PC on the same network. One tip is to upgrade the software as soon as possible as this improves performance and I found this easy to do through the internet connection, taking around five to ten minutes to compete the process automatically.

We purchased this item (the 42 inch variant) from Amazon a couple of weeks ago and generally speaking we are VERY pleased with it. We purchased the Skype camera kit and 'dongle' at the same time which, subject to the physical placement of the 'dongle', works well, and the facility to be able to watch (say) BBC I-Player through the television rather than using a laptop computer is greatly appreciated. Being Panasonic, picture quality is above reproach but, and this brings me to the reason we haven't awarded the item 5 stars, the sound quality is simply appalling. Admittedly, we up-graded from a conventional Sony tube type receiver with largish speakers, but the sound is SO sibilant it is almost uncomfortable to listen to. I have tried 'twiddling' all the knobs I can find, (electronically, of course) but to no avail. As a consequence, we have examined the prospect of purchasing a suitable sound bar, but are somewhat staggered by the prices charged for such items. Consequently, we will defer our decision to purchase until after Christmas. In summing up - a SUPERB picture (the best we saw - and we spent weeks looking at items from other manufacturers within our budget) let down by poor (possibly unacceptable) sound quality. Shame.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not what I was expecting, 17 Dec 2012

I bought this TV on the strength of all the 5* ratings, and reading nothing of concern in the 1* ratings - To say I was disappointed was an understatement!

First off, the quality of TV from the Sky Plus (via Scart) is abysmal. Yes, maybe now is the time for upgrading to Sky HD, but it should handle Scart "satisfactorily", but that isn't the experience. The colour bleed is just unbearable, and the colour shift when the scene isn't changing on the television is just so annoying. There's also an obvious lack of upscaling, so it's pretty well feeling like watching television on your 1980s telly.

Secondly, is the audio. Whilst I can't fault the music output, it's exceptional for a 2-speaker system, speech is just unaudiable, even with the volume cranked up. Pretty much forget trying to follow the plot of a story by listening to the dialog, as it's pretty much impossible, even when the speakers are set to "speech". Dire and dreadful for anyone wanting substance to their viewing.

And to put the final nail in the coffin, the online system just doesn't work. I've plugged in the ethernet cable, and whilst a network diagnosis says there's the network there, it's allocated the IP, and also identifies the root of all other systems connected, none of them can be accessed, I can't access the "BBC iPlayer" feature advertised, and pressing the "Internet" button when it says so on start-up produces no result.

So much potential, the 4 HDMI sockets made me thing "great, perfect"... and whilst the picture is very good on Blu-Rays, it's handling of DVDs, SD television and the speech audio make this an unbearably expensive mistake.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Pansonic LED/LCD for the price. (42"), 17 Dec 2012

I previously had a 50" Panasonic Plasma (5 years old). This LED/LCD is just as good, though as expected, the blacks aren't quite the same quality.

Set-Up was easy and the user interface is simple and straightforward. Panasonice Smart Viera is also very good, though I haven't been able to find a browser via the Smart Viera. This model may not have this option.

You'll need to play around with the picture settings to get the picture right, but once you do, the quality and viewing angles are very impressive indeed.

If you can do without the gimmick of 3D, then this model is perfect for the price point. I personally didn't see the point of paying an extra £200+ for the 3D model.

Excellent connectivity, Wifi ready (via dongle) or simply connect via Ethernet. Plenty of USB and HDMI and also a headphone jack.

Very pleased. The reviews were spot on. Another great quality TV from Panasonic.
