1.0 out of 5 stars Glitchy player, not recommended, 5 Jan 2013

When it works this player produces a nice picture, unfortunately it's plagued by annoying glitches that crop up every few minutes or so, e.g. white flashes/lines. Occasionally you also get a completely blue screen and static noise. This makes the player unusable.

At first I thought the DVD was dirty, but the same problem occurs on different discs. Have since swapped it for a Sony DVPSR760, which produces a superb picture on the same DVDs with absolutely no glitches.

Don't make the same mistake as me, and go for the Sony model instead!

All good about the machine, but frustrated that it didn't come with connection scart lead, so it couldn't be used straight away.

The DVD element of my DVD and Tape player had failed and I was searching for a low cost solution to plating DVDs and this appears to satisfy that requirement. It does and DVD and Tape Player are functioning well.

1.0 out of 5 stars Toshiba- cheap but unfit for purpose, 12 Dec 2012

I must disagree with other reviewers as I have become increasingly annoyed with this piece of equipment.
Faults: 1. It takes far too long to load.
2.Even when the disks are new it will tell you that 25% are bad disks.
3.Far too often it will stick half way through a video and stop, forcing you to start again.
This was obviously built to a price and they skimped on the quality of the laser reader.
My advise is spend more and buy a different brand such as Sony.
If you want uninterrupted viewing this is not for you.

A good value, functional DVD that was easy to set up and get working. We have it for use by guests in our cottage, and it serves them well.

One reviewer says that Amazon has a dud batch. That's probably it. I have had to send three back on the trot. You'd think I would learn my lesson after two, but over-optimism triumphed over commonsense. Do not buy this item - not even once !

Small and light it works fine. However picture compared with PS3 dvd drive is noticeably poorer. As in the contrast is less defined, 'greyer' than should be.

Brought this as mine had gone up in smoke, was not sure about this product, mixed reviews, but it was at a good price so i thought what the heck, i must admit it is very good, the tray is a bit flimsy, but your not going to rest your cup on it, i do not find it noisy the only thing i miss is auto play back from last view, so if you have to turn it off half way through a film you have to fast forward it to where you last was, apart from that i am a happy chap.
