Very good picture and sound quality as expected. The only annoyance is that it doesn't appear to have an option to automatically switch the tv to the correct hdmi input when a call is received (like my dvd player does when it is switched on). Therefore not too useful for those people who struggle with tv remotes and technology ie the target market! 5.0 out of 5 stars Very convenient skyeping, 25 Jan 2013

Great gadget . Easy to fit and operate. It rings to let you know you have a Skype call, switch from what your watching on TV and the caller can be accessed. Friends are impressed by the way I can zoom in and out, they love seeing me in the lounge rather than a computer room. Highly recommended. 1 of 2 people found the following review helpful

Hi, got this as a gift for my wife at Christmas as her sister lives away and thought, as it was advertised as just plug it into your tv, connect 3 cables and away you go. That's the reason I was prepared to pay the over the top price for a "WEBCAM" and yes it was easy enough to set up out of the box, but when you switch the tv and broadband off at night and start it up again the next day don't expect it to ring if someone Skype's you, not unless you go back into the AV channel it is on and then re input your Skype password every time you switch your broadband off.You can unplug the Ethernet cable from the webcam and plug it back in and it will acquire the IP address. I have tried leaving the webcam powered up all the time but still after switching the TV and broadband back on it needs to be set up again. I know pulling a cable out of the back of it and putting it back in dos'nt sound like much hassle but at £180 its not what I expected. I contacted Logitech support just got an arrogant person like a machine saying Skype was nothing to do with them. If I had the packaging I would send it back as it dosnt do what it says on the box and if you are buying it for elderly people they will have to set it up every day or leave their TV and broadband on permanently.

I think if there was an award for the fastest bit of kit to setup, then this would win it! It's basically a Skype module containing a camera, wi-fi and ethernet with an output for HDMI TVs. It comes with a simple remote control.I literally hooked it up to my TV, setup WiFi, logged into my Skype account and made video calls right away. Worked perfectly without any problems. Very easy to setup, and the image quality was good - worked over my WiFi without problems. The Skype page you get on the TV is very easy use. The unit is designed to sit on top a TV, and has LEDs on the front that illuminate when you have Skype messages.
I wonder how long it will be until TVs have all this built in? For now, though, this is an excellent, if somewhat expensive, solution.
4.0 out of 5 stars My 82 year old dad can use it, 16 Jan 2013

My 82 year old no-tech dad can use this to receive calls via the super simple remote on his 56 inch tv. His eysight is poor so he sits close but he can see and hear fine.Quality rarely like in the promo but this device is groundbreaking for seniors because it is the first that older people can actually use. Its not just the ability to use an existing tv and the simple design of the remote and interface but the killer app part that switches automatically to Skype when he gets a call even if watching a channel or if tv is on standby. I.e it works like a regular phone - one action to answer.
Much harder for him to make calls since he has to switch to the skype source using his tv remote then navigate with the lgtech remote.
There are plenty of improvements Lgtech could make on this device (sound echoes, ringer too quiet ) but I just shared the sights of Piccadilly Circus and st James park on a beautiful day where he could see and hear the ducks from my phone on his big screen tv and that is worth every penny.

This turned out to be a lot easier to use out of the box than I thought. I didn't even use the manual until I was having a quick check afterwards. The unit is very nicely packaged so you feel as if you've bought something special, and you have. It's literally a case of take it out of the box, plug in the supplied HDMI cable and mains plug, secure to the top of your TV (very easy)switch on the TV and a screen will guide you through the setup process. There is a neat little remote control that allows you to do everything. I was using wifi so it was just a question of entering the password and then either log in with your existing skype account or create a new one. The menu screens are very basic, but very simple to understand. Once it was all setup and tested the only thing I couldn't seem to find was some sort of standby button or off switch on the unit itself. In the end I just unplugged it as I won't be using it all the time. If you regularly skype and want to do so via your TV this is highly recommended. 1 of 2 people found the following review helpful

This product is simple to set up and simple to use. Out of the box, it took all of five minutes to get working (including new software download) - and would have been even faster if I had have had my wifi and Skype login details to hand. The camera is particularly good in low light - the room looks brightly lit during the setup and the picture is very clear!I hunted around the box to look for a clip to attach the camera to the TV - only to realize that the clip is built in - and just needed opening up. Once placed on top of the TV (A Panasoncic 40" HDTV) the camera is held of firmly.
Call quality is good - talking to a friend with a Logitech 910 the picture was very clear and the sound through the TV was fine. The picture they saw, and the sound they heard was clear. The picture and sound can be tested with the Echo/Sound test.
A nice product that works well.

3.0 out of 5 stars Skype, 29 Dec 2012

This item was easy to install once i figured out that it only works through HMDI cable selection in av input. I wanted this to work on my Smart TV for using Skype but when opening the Skype on my TV it does not detect the camera no matter what, although it works well off the hmdi separably, but annoyingly you have to change to the av input channel to use it. Would have preferred that it was just plug and play .For the price this would have been expected. 0 of 1 people found the following review helpful

This unit is actually a small computer, built into the plastic case with a camera. It's sole function is to run Skype, which it does without issue.
The HD picture quality is everything you might expect AND it shows a much wider (not just bigger) image from its camera too, as it's HD format. Sound quality is excellent too, both what you hear and what the other person hears via the built in microphones (there are four of them), regardless of where you're sitting.
It either requires an ethernet cable to be plugged into the back of the unit (if your router's close by you might choose this option) or else use the built in wi-fi to connect to your network. Now my wi-fi is fast ("N") so I don't know how this would peform using plain "G" (or God forbid, "B") rated networks; you'll have to read the manufacturer's website to determine this.
Set up is easy (even for non-computer literate people, really). In fact, I'd say that if you have a tablet or laptop with Skype already installed then this is overkill. But for those without such a device and who want a nice big clear picture this is a great (albeit rather pricey) device. And, of course, lots of people can watch a TV without the hassle of the entire family trying to view Grandma on the laptop or tablet.
The bracket on this device doesn't quite fit all TVs (well, not the two I tried, LG and Panasonic) but it's easily rectified. It's just a matter of personal preference whether you're OK with this perched on top of your TV at all times (and you're just willing the call-light to light up). It does look a bit Star Trekky (whether that's good or bad if for you to decide).
I just wish I had someone in the USA or Australia I could use this with rather than a couple of mates just up the road.
All in all, a well made, solid device that delivers what it says it will and even non techie users will have no trouble at all in setting it up (it can hardly be called "set-up", there's so little to it).
