So i thought id put my review of the BDT320 now, i had researched the device on many review sites, and the main issue that most people hate is the remote control. The player is gorgeously, designed and has won some recent innovation and design awards. The unit comes with 2 USB sockets, which worked with my USB HDD with a number of media files, so i am happy about that as you wont need another media streamer separate. It has a smooth slot loading entry for discs. The startup time and loading of the film to is around 10 seconds. Its very quiet. It also has Smart Eco technology so turns itself on/off when you approach it i turned it off within the menu system as when it was off it was making a very quiet creeking sound constantly when this mode was on like a power current was constantly processed through it.
The remote to be honest is actually very good i think if you used to an all button remote, then it will be awkward. The touchpad on the remote is very sensitive but once you get a feel to the touchpad and its flow its very quick and works nicely. I suppose some people will find it fustrating at first but the menu system is pretty self explanatory. If you use a tablet or smartphone the touch gestures are similar, i didnt study the manual but glanced. You will figure it out its not complicated at all. If you went with a Panasonic TV as well, the main TV remote is also compatible with the player.
All in all the picture is crisp, sharp and clean. I have no issues. If you want the normal remote, go with the 220.
An awesome player.

Quite slow on internet apps, starting and general operations.Remote could be hard sometimes to operate, but the remote I had already for the Viera TV works very well.

This item was delivered very rapidly, and appears to be very good quality and construction. The player itself is excellent and has many features that I thought I would never use like Youtube etc... but The kids love it.
A great feature is it's ability to connect to a remote server like my DS211j diskstation, it will then play all my stored media over the network! (movies, pictures and MP3's)
However - the remote is RUBBISH!! it's a touch pad affair like on a laptop... suffice to say that it's a really BAD idea...which kind of spoils an otherwise good solid product
I would still definitely recommend though..
update... I just bought a 'normal' remote off ebay for £15.. sorted!!

At first I was happy with this bluray player, I could stream most videos from my PC and don't have a problem with the touchpad remote some have had. However, my biggest annoyance is FF/RW capabilities, or rather lack of. Another big issue for me is that you can't stream subtitles, not sure that is an isolated issue with this media streamer or if it is a global issue, still it is very annoying. Also there is there no thumbnails for my movie and music collection, just a generic and I will say ugly list of files instead. I have yet to play a blu ray disc in it so can't comment on playback issues there. In all, I've got a few more weeks left before I lose my return date so I might just shop around for a more suitable replacement.

The PS3 I was using to play movies on has packed up. I had a good look around and finally decided on this model over a new PS3 Slim 12GB and a Samsung (to go with the TV), both of which came out badly with regards to noise and I'm glad I did as I can't fault the unit at all. It's thin, compact, quiet, has built in wireless, optical out and took literally 2 minutes to install and setup. Some reviews have complained about the glowing light where the disc goes in, don't worry this can be turned off in the menus. OK the Remote control is a bit odd, and takes a bit of getting used to. But I have found the by connecting to my TV via HDMI I can use the TV remote via the HDMI-CEC feature. I have also downloaded the app to my Sony Xperia S Android smart phone and that works quite well also, in fact probably a bit better than the remote!
3D playback looks great, disc loading times are fairly quick. Online features seem ok. I'm not interested in Netflix, Love Film or Skype but YouTube app seemed ok when I tried it. BBC iPlayer works well, although it didn't let me play anything in HD but I'm not sure if that's because my internet connection wasn't good enough or if it's the player.

Good machine. But limiting in file formats supported by DLNA playback. The playback when using network shares supports many more formats and is great! 3 of 4 people found the following review helpful

I've had this for 4 months, and have held off on writing this review, hoping that I'd be able to get used to the remote, and so enjoy the amazing sound, picture, DVD upscaling, 3D playback, aesthetics. I really, really, wanted my intuitive sense that a remote with a "touchpad" instead of buttons was a stupid idea, to be wrong. I've enjoyed so many films without interruption with the player, that I really wanted to give it a 5 star review. However, the remote is frankly awful; so awful that the player loses 2 stars, and that's being generous. And not awful because it's cheap, it's designed to be awful. For a cheap sales gimick that achieves absolutely nothing that year worth of remote evolution tells us works just fine with buttons. It's a bit like having a perfect baby, and deciding to replace its arms with suckers, or putting caterpillar tracks on a Porsche. Not because suckers and caterpillar tracks have no place, but they have no place in that context.
Just
Not
Needed.
Oh, and it hums a lot during playback and glows bright blue from the slot at the front, which is distracting and unnecessary too.

Panasonic seem to have added at least one Curate's egg to its 2012 range of Blu-Ray players. Before purchasing I read as many reviews as I could and decided this would be a good upgrade from my then samsung player. Technically this delivers everthing I wanted. Picture quality and sound are excellent. Network features are good. Speed of operation is quick. (I find all blu ray players in general take their time from inserting the disc to actually allowing you to start playing the film.)
However, the user interface is not as clean and simple as I had hoped but it is still acceptable. The real problem is the new fancy remote control. Of course you can practice and practice to master this. But surely good design should lead to intuitive use and not a stream of cursing as one accidentally carries out a control function that bears no relation to the intended action (e.g. returning to the beginning of the film when one intended to rewind only a few seconds).
The real flaw is that the new remote design is not fool proof and operations can take considerably longer to carry out properly than on a standard remote. Luckily some older standard bluray remotes from Panasonic will work with this unit.
Panasonic should really offer customers the option to exchange the remote for a standard one.
And the best of luck in trying to contact Panasonic. I have tried various online support services and email addresses over the last 10 days and have not received one response. Customer support is obviously even lower down Panasonic's agenda than simplicity of use and design.
If you can get by the lack of support and enjoy the challenge of mastering a truly inept remote control then this machine is recommended
By the way...good service from Amazon as usual.

I read about these things for months and looked up every review i could until i gave up and bought this one so i could get back to having a life, I just received this on Tuesday and on opening up the box noted the contents were fairly spartan for the money, a slim compact player with a power cable and a small remote, plugged it in and connected my own HDMI, and started it up, a few Gordon Ramsay moments later due to the fe****g touchpad on the remote and it works just fine, very impressed so far. fe****g touchpad remote.
