Small and compact, but the projector lamp is too dim to display in a medium room. Do not recommend it.

After a lot of research decided to risk purchase of this little projector. There was no risk! It idoes every thing I expected and more. Small Battery operated if required. I have used it on battery for half an hour.. Brightsharp picture.and easy to set up and operate. The kit did include a VGA cable which was not indicated in the blurb so I had to return the extra lead I ordered at the same time. Overall I'm completely satisfied.

Came with all leads and even some I don't know what for! comes with it's own wee case too. Very easy to set up which is just as well 'cause instructions are minimal. nice clear projection but probably best in darkness. haven't used sound so can't comment... Would recommend

Overall, this is a great product. I purchased it primarily for using my X-box 360 when I'm travelling, and for projecting movies played on my PC onto the ceiling when I'm feeling lazy in bed...

Pro's: Very compact (I know this is what it's supposed to be, but it's really still a shock when you remove it from the box and hold it in the palm of your hand!) Battery lasts for a good long time, at least as long as advertised. Even the in-built speakers are decent (if you don't want to use the headphone socket)! Comes with a perfectly working mini tripod, a little remote control, and a decent carry-case (fits the projector only, but that's the only thing you really want to protect during transit, right?!) The projector user-menu is very straightforward to use. Most importantly, it does a great job of projecting from a variety of multimedia inputs (but see below for a word of warning regarding interconnectivity).

Con's: Only negative, which causes it to lose half a star for me is the (unsurprising, given the advertised 30 lumens ) lack of brightness, meaning you'll have to use in a darkened room for full benefit.

Note: I haven't tried projecting anything directly from a USB stick or SD card, so can't comment here.

A word on interconnectivity and running with the X-box 360: (This is now standard, as far as I can tell) - the PicoPix comes with a variety of cables, including VGA (connect to your PC), audio/video (A/V) to connect composite video connectors (e.g. from camera, games console) and USB adapters. All seem to work fine. However, I initially connected my X-box 360 to the projector via the composite video cable (the one with 3 connectors, a yellow video-input one, and the red/white stereo audio ones). However, many X-box 360 games these days only work with this weird PAL60 format (kind of a fusion of PAL and NTSC). The projector will operate via composite in PAL50 mode, but if you switch to 60Hz, it will no longer recognize the input from the X-box 360. The solution is to instead connect using a component video cable (one with five connectors - in which the video is carried via three separate red/green/blue connectors, again leaving two red/white stereo audio connectors) from the X-box 360 via a Component-Video (YPbPr/YUV) HD AV adaptor to the projector. In this case, the projector will support all the X-box 360 component video modes. I've removed another half a star from the rating here, since you'll need to spend some money (~£20) to get the necessary equipment. You'll definitely need to buy this:

Philips PPA1110 Component Video Adapter for Philips Pico Projectors

... and if you don't already have one, you'll need an X-box 360 Component cable:

4.0 out of 5 stars Really portable - perfect for displays on the go, 27 Dec 2012

Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Programme (What's this?)
Summary - a great little projector unit for showing pictures and movies in relatively small dark environments. Onboard storage and power mean it is completely self contained.

Cons
The light isn't enormously bright - so this works best in a dark room.
There is a bit of a 'refresh' effect which can sometimes be seen with the LED - it can be a little off-putting, particularly for videos.
The iPad integration (an extra cable is required) isn't brilliant - only applying to picture sharing and very little else.

Pros
Lightweight, good on-board storage, easy to set up and use and lots of interface options. In the right room, the display is very good indeed and great for sharing family holiday snaps or the like. The speakers also are surprisingly good for a unit this size.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good surprise, 3 Dec 2012

I have read some reviews and my expectations were not very high about this product. However, I must say it does what it advertises and it was a surprise for me how good it works. Some people complain that the package didn't bring the VGA cable, but in my case it was packed and works fine. Of course it performs much better on darker rooms, but it is perfect for my needs.
I am sure there are better projectors out there, but this turned out to be a good value for money and if you have problems with space, this kind of devices are perfect.
The only thing I could improve would be the stand. It is not very stable. But it does not affect the functionality of the projector.

Received this product next day (weekend) with amazon prime. This projector is fantastic for the price paid. Day light has little impact on projected picture quality. But in dark room absolutely brilliant. The size of this projector is very small that you can carry in pocket. Initially I was worried about the quality but after using it i'm very happy with quality of this projector.
