This is a fantastic Projector, it may take a while to set up the color, contrast and brightness to the way you want. I'm projecting it onto a light brown wall and it looks fantastic. I didnt buy a screen because it looked washed out. I have it set at 16:10 ratio because if anything thats in 2.35 looks great. 4.0 out of 5 stars Bright and reliable, 11 Feb 2013

This is a good low budget HD projector, with lots of input choices and a speaker that is loud enough for a large room. I deducted one star because it regularly had an issue with the HDMI input from an iPad after wakeup but otherwise a every good performer. 2.0 out of 5 stars keeps flashing some times when i watch a movie, 27 Jan 2013

I ordered this to use in the office.Packing and Delivery: Very well packed. Arrived in two days.
User-friendly: Easy to use, no suprises, same as all other projectors.
Brightness and Image quality: Awesome! During day time with all lights on inside the office (surrounded by windows with no blind) against a white wall, the projection looks just like a computer screen, no need at all for annoying darkness where one cannot possibly read any paper drawings/reports or write down any notes.
Overheated: No, normal heat level (it does becomes hot). For bulbs in projectors, high brightness = high heat.
Fan noise level: Unnoticeable.
In case someone might wonder where the user manual is? It's in the side pocket of the carring bag.
A very good purchase, after reading almost all the reviews of all projectors on Amazon. Way better than all the projectors that I have used. Totally satisfied.

Using this projector we can really appreciate HDTV. We project onto a wall to give a screen diagonal of about 10ft (300cm). Viewing this from about 15ft away is like being at the cinema. Good points: easy to connect using HDMI and to adjust for sharp picture, very good HD resolution. Bad points: fan noise can be a bit distracting when viewing quiet scenes. The internal speaker is silly but anyone using the projector will have a separate sound system so this does not matter. You need to be in a darkened room to get a really good picture but at the price, this is a very good value for money 300cm TV! 4.0 out of 5 stars Good, bright picture and simple to set up, 6 Dec 2012

For the money this is really good value. I use it mainly for presentations but, just occasionally, for home cinema. Compared to an older Epson LCD model in cinema mode, I think the colours are slightly less saturated and the contrast (particularly the appearance of blacks) slightly less well defined but by no means bad. This really only matters for cinemas use and is not a major issue as the eye quickly adjusts. 5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, 6 Dec 2012

Buy a 50inch flatscreen or a projector - that was the question.Glad i got this! Much cheaper :-)
I have a big clear wall to project on and yup you have your own cinema. Didn't experience any of that 'Rainbow effect' - but I understand that's due the the viewer's genetic structure ?
Works OKish in the daytime but have to close the curtains for the best results.
Fan is a tidge noisy but even though I have the projector next to my head you forget about that.

Once I got this thing working I could not fault the picture quality. We have it set it up 5m back from the screen and the resolution is still excellent. My only gripe is that I had a problem connecting with my Sony Bluray player. When I hooked it up using a short 1M HDMI, it projected perfectly. Then when I moved it to the back wall and connected the 6M HDMI, there was no video output at all. It took me a long time to figure out that I needed to change the native resolution of the bluray player to 720p to match it up with the projector in order to work over that distance. So be warned - get your resolutions matched if you're using longer cables. Otherwise, it's a five star purchase. 5.0 out of 5 stars amazing!!!, 25 Nov 2012

had this for over a month now and you cant go wrong! the picture quality is 10/10 with a decent hdmi lead. i watched avatar on my wall with no screen picture size talking 120" and i was blown away!! buy this and a decent surround sound you will never have to go to the cinema again.if your going to buy a long 20m+ hdmi lead make sure to set the dvd player to 720p or you will get no picture.

In conjunction with a set top box (TV receiver) I use the Optoma for viewing TV programmes. This is my first projector and I found the initial set up very easy, though it's also worth scanning through the manual.
The image quality is very good, even on to a plain wall. Resolution is fine even in daylight.
Projected from 3 meters, it gives an approx. 6 ft (diagonal) image. With this arrangement I find a separate screen, which I originally intended to buy, is not necessary.
However I would consider buying speakers if I later use the projector for home cinema.
My only reservation is the zoom facility which does not give great magnification and means I needed to experiment with several different room positions to find the ideal placement to suit my requirements.
Overall I'm very pleased with the product and there is the added bonus of not having to find room for a traditional TV set.
