Ordered as a replacement for a Freesat box which had stopped working. Easy installation and rapid automatic tuning. Seems to work fine

It only does what you want, and at a very affordable price.

It doesn't connect to the internet, doesn't have umpteen additional connection possibilities, doesn't make the tea, it just provides SD tv and radio programmes from a satellite signal. So you don't have to pay for additional functionality that you probably didn't want.

If you have a fairly basic TV with a scart socket and don't want a recording facility, this box is all you need. As well as being cheap it is very small, an added bonus. Oh, and it's power usage is less than 1W in standby, has very clear start up instructions and was up and running in a few minutes.

Fully recommended.

I would highly recommend this product as easy to operate and providing a wide range of stations and supporting services. I was so impressed that I purchased two sets, one for the lounge and one for a bedroom.

For those who only want a digi box, having a recorder already, this is an ideal buy. Low energy stand by - easy installation as it comes complete with a scart lead. I consider it a good buy.

I bought this in the UK to enable me to watch UK TV in South West France. I re-positioned my 60cm satellite dish from Astra 19.2SW (the main satellite used by French TV channels) to Astra 28.2W (the satellite on which Freesat broadcasts). I used a Konig meter (bought from Amazon for about £6). A very easy adjustment (meter,.ladder & spanner).
The Goodmans Freesat tuner immediately recognised the satellite. It told me that I had 90% signal strength (minimum of 50% required) I followed the on-screen instructions & within a few minutes, all the Freesat channels were automatically tuned, including the BBC & othe radio stations. Subsequently, I was also able to tune in quite a few additional channels, including Sky News, France 24, Pick TV & some other overseas broadcasts. However, I couldn't receive the "Dave" & "Yesterday" channels (I believe these are only available on a "Sky" box).
The EPG works well & there is provision to set up a list of easily accessed "favourite" channels (useful when, fully tiuned, my tuner receives well in excess of 100 TV & radio channels!
Although this tuner does not deal with HD, for normal TV requirements (mine is a 32" Toshiba wide screen), this Goodmans tuner is a brilliant purchase.

Two practical issues:
1) The SCART connector at the back of the unit comes loose very easily

2)There is noise picked up on the sound when large expanses of white appear on the TV picture,
which causes some annoyance. I intend to try changing the SCART lead to see if this clears the problem
but haven't had time to try this yet.
