This is the remote control wand forged with a motion-sensing accelerometer that detects the hand's nuanced movements to translate 13 distinct gestures. Simply point the wand and your device's remote at each other and push the function on the remote the wand is to "learn"--pressing "up volume" on a remote could be linked to the wand's up/down gesture while changing channels could be linked to the wand's clock/counterclockwise gesture. Other motions of legerdemain, such as quick taps to pause/play a DVD, forward/backward thrusts, and dramatic sweeps can be matched to nearly any existing remote's functions. The Kymera magic wand is amazing!! Truly magical. Anyone thinking of buying.....do it!!
I will say however don't ask too much of it, it has 13 different commands so pick one device for it to control.
I picked my dvd player and it works a treat.
Be patient with it, when setting up if it doesn't accept the infra red signal from your remote try adjusting the distance in which you hold it to the remote.
Reading the instructions is an absolute must!
And once your set up it works beautifully as long as you don't rush it (like pretty much anything)
Don't hesitate to buy!

I'm a great fan of a certain teenage wizard and his adventures with you know who, so when I saw this, I just had to have it.

It's great fun to use and really works! It took me a few tries to get it programmed correctly and I never managed to 'get the hang' of a couple of the movements... But my patience was well rewarded.

I can now sit on my sofa and, with a flick of my wrist, control my television, satellite box and stereo because this wand can learn from multiple remotes.

Only complaints-
* A bit pricey for a whim... Hard to justify the price for something I need about as much as I need an extra hole in my head... Only generous Christmas gift cards made this happen.
* Some of the movements are difficult to master or super sensitive. For example, I assigned volume control to the 'rolling wand' movement... If I'm not careful I end up turning the volume up or down as desired but find the wand reversing or exaggerating the effect when I move it to put it down

If you are like me then you'll have several remotes lying around, one for speakers, virgin TiVo, TV... The great thing about this remote you can tie all these together in one unique package. And for some reason it works my Virgin TiVo box better than the actual control (so I must have had a faulty controller). Any how I think this makes for a great remote and a bit of fun!

The 'wand' arrived promptly, as if by magic - a good sign as it was ordered very late and was required as 'something different' for a grandaughter's birthday.
Grandaughter, who is an ardent Harry Potter fan has had a marvellous time organising the TV programmes and has become very slick at changing channels. Her elder brother is not amused, but everybody else is, until their favourite programme disappears off the screen at the flick of a wand!

Thoroughly recommended for young adolescents who wish to wind up both their siblings. Great as a present from grandparents as they only hear about the funny bits and don't have to observe the battles at first hand. I don't know how long the wand will last. It was recommended to me by my daughter who did some online research and said the specs for this wand were better than most. As far as I am concerned the Kymera MWRC has most definitely given value for money.

This was given to me as a Christmas present. It can take a few attempts to set up correctly depending on the remote you are learning from, but when you have it set up there is nothing better than controlling your TV with a wand. The child in me that wanted to go to Hogwarts is thrilled! I have it set up to control my Sky box and with 13 movements, I can do most of the controlling on the wand alone, but do need the normal controller as well. A few more movements would be useful, but I struggle remembering the ones I've set up! If you are looking for an unusual present for the Harry Potter fan in your life, or a geek that is hard to buy for, then as both of these, I recommend this!
