I bought the DRT389H as a christmas gift for my father. I was able to make a few recordings when the machine was first unpacked, but it started to play up on the second day. It was possible to start a recording, but it would stop after a few minutes for various reasons (the machine would reboot, the screen would freeze, or a message would be displayed indicating that the recording had failed), resulting in the disc becoming unreadable. I tested four brands of disc, including those that had worked on the 1st day, with no success. The machine was boxed up on Boxing Day and returned. Fortunately, the socks I also bought for christmas have lasted a bit longer.

I bought this machine to transfer holiday videos from my HD camcorder to dvd disk. once you have played around with the menu screens and made a few test recordings its pretty simple to use. For the price the machine works well and does exactly what you expect it to. I would have preffered however for it to have a HD input as this was something I was expecting but not a huge issue as I just used an AV cable instead.

LG Sleek design easy to use plays all discs and easy to record it has built in freeview so i get all my freeview channels on there it plays all my disc including music cds , and of course it records on the the discs as well what a great space saving all in one unit , cant fault it and for the price what a bargain

Help! I got this for Christmas and wanted a freeview box with the normal digital channels that i could pause, rewind and record programmes and series link episodes. Does this do this? Iv had a look and i cant seem to get it working. I recorded 4 programmes and now cant find where they are stored! Do they have to be recorded onto a disc?? Any help would be grateful, can someone help me?? Thanks x

A quality product, , difficult to set up in combination with a freesat box, I have since found out, that because it incorporates freeview it wont work with freesat, as freesat uses a dish and freeview uses an aerial, so I have to either to now get a digital aerial,or purchase another dvd recorder, it would have been helpful to state this in the product description, as we are not all technically minded. Anyone with a digital aerial want to buy a dvd recorder? As we live in a poor reception area, the aerial is out, that's why we elected for a dish in the first place Expensive mistake.

On further inspection, I now find that the product is not as described, in the Amazon advert for the DRT 389 H it does not mention that Freeview is included in this model, and that is the answer to all my difficulties, I only wanted a recorder, as described in the Amazon on line page, perhaps Amazon should email me regarding my options,or I will have to send the product back, as not fit for purpose due to the lack of description in the advert.

I bought this player in June 2011- by early December 2012 it has finally decided to give up the ghost. The machine has died a fairly slow death, initially becoming a bit unresponsive when pressing various operation buttons. The next death twitch involved occasionally refusing to power on and taking longer and longer to read a disc. The final nail in it's coffin has been only rarely agreeing to power on, and when it randomly does, (after saying 'hello' in it's display about 500 times), the sound output is like a de tuned radio. If you are after a freeview dvd player that lasts, I suggest you look elsewhere.

It met all my expectations.
Difficult to find some of the relevent instructions but once the correct ones had been located in the manual, then no problem.
