When our old tv went digital we lost the ability to use our video recorder. We did not really want a new tv yet so this Freeview Plus is perfect in every sense. It records two programmes at the same time and best of all it is really easy to use and understand. The tv picture is a lot clearer as well. I would recommend to anyone who is still wondering about whether to purchase Freeview Plus to go straight ahead with absolutely no fear of any worries. 5.0 out of 5 stars D.V.D.recorder Review, 18 Dec 2012

Check your aerial is compatible with Freeview+ before you buy this as you may be disapointed like me. I was able to set it up and download the channels OK but because I live in a 22 storey tower block the communal aerial was not strong enough so I had to send this back. 4.0 out of 5 stars Satisfied, 15 Dec 2012

A month or so in and it appears to be a good purchase. I would prefer to have the option for the programme guide of seeing either a single channel (my personal preference) or a couple of hours of all channels (what you get with this box). I also find the process of viewing a recorded programme somewhat clunky; Menu, Record, Recorded programme, Ok, Back, Back, Back; similar process when deleting recorded items. There's a Select button when at the Recorded programme display - the only function this appears to serve is to select more than one recording to delete. Finally, it takes a while to release control when turned off. These are minor gripes - overall it seems a reliable box. 1.0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY, 14 Dec 2012

I had a sturdy old Thompson Freeview+ box - I wore the poor thing out in the end (the HDD gave out) but for years before that it worked like a pit pony. Not a single moment's trouble. Contrast that with the nonsense I've had to put up with from this Humax box. I've had to reset the damn thing I don't know how many times, frequently because it has decided to start picking up the wrong transmitters; same flat, same aerial as the Thompson worked with, effortlessly. It's done it again tonight - I got home from work to find most of the channels I would want to watch to be completely unwatchable, freezing and dropping out altogether. Trying to watch the 6.00 news on BBC1, only to be told by the Humax that "The channel is scrambled or unavailable", is not impressive. So, YET AGAIN, rescan the box. And upon doing so, I get either a handful of channels, or a huge number because the channels are duplicated (but still unwatchable). This was just the last straw for me, and I am writing this to (a) let off steam and (b) warn potential buyers to look elsewhere. The Humax cost more than the Thompson, and has a larger memory, and certainly looks sleeker and more advanced. I actually thought I was upgrading. In reality, I am seriously considering just buying a hard drive and reviving the Thompson box, because the Humax is garbage. Unreliable, prone to problems like the one described in the rant above, with a horribly ill-designed remote vastly inferior to the Sky-style one the Thompson used. Even when it does work, it is awkward to use - you can either adjust the start/finish times of a programme you want to see, or you can record the whole series; not both. How on Earth is that a good idea? Also, if you choose to record a whole series, in this age of multichannel repeat showings it will frequently record the same episode several times over. It's a crushing disappointment, not anywhere near worth the money, and if I could award it a minus rating I would do so. The aggravation it's given me definitely takes it from the merely poor and into the actually negative. To put it another way, I honestly wish I hadn't bought the damn thing.I'm no expert on the PVR market, but there HAS to be a better option out there than this. Take my word for it, DO NOT BUY. I certainly won't buy from Humax again.

After going digital I couldn't live without a video recorder so bought this to time shift. It records 2 programmes while I watch a third and is a brilliant piece of kit. I've had this in continuous use for over 4 years now and would highly recommend this unit to anyone. When it eventually fails I shall have no qualms about buying another of this make. 5.0 out of 5 stars Good value, extremely useful, quiet fan, 13 Dec 2012

POSITIVE:Good value for money
No problems at all regarding fan noise
Great to be able to record two channels at the same time
Clear TV guide with current programme playing in a small window
Large hard drive
NEGATIVE:
Series link recording kept failing - maybe when the broadcaster altered the start time? Manual programming works fine.
Trimming and editing recorded programmes is a bit clumsy. You can split recordings but not combine, and trimming is tricky to get accurate
VERDICT
Negatives are only small niggles. I would recommend it and would buy again.

This was brought for our mum to replace her other freeview box and DVD recorder. For some reason the 500GB version was cheaper than the 320GB Version so we brought the
500GB one for that reason.
You get usb, scart and an HDMI socket, even though it's not HD, but HDMI is good as the TV
easily locates the box making initial set-up fairly easy our only problem being
that we have to centre the image and this hasn't been remembered, so parts of the EPG
are of the screen, though i think this is a set-up problem only.
The main reason for buying a PVR was to make it easier to record programmes and this box
is pretty easy to use-Just select the programe from the EPG and it's done.
At the moment the box has only been used a few times and with no problems and hopefuly
it will stay that way.
I own the Humix 9150t and on occasion this has locked up or the sound has gone out of sync
and sometimes programes fail to record Probelms some people have had with the PVR 9300T.
Sound going out of sync is corrected by stopping and restarting
recordings a freeze requires a re-boot.
As it is i would recommend the Humix PVR 9330t 500Gb version as the price is good, £50
cheaper than Comet or Currys.
